“The OC” was inescapable in my house. As a tween, the show was the perfect fantasy of teen life, filled with beautiful misbehaving actors who looked older than the average 16-year-olds. Aside from introducing us to a generation of talented actors, it also introduced us to Chrismukkah, the silly holiday devised by Seth Cohen that blends the magic of Hanukkah and Christmas.
If looking for maximum coziness and Christmas-vibes, “Gilmore Girls” is your place to go. As the series trails Rory and Lorelai Gilmore through the seasons and years, you have your pick of episodes to choose from, with the Christmas ones packed with holiday vibes and snow.
Jim Carrey is a great comedian, but also an incredible character actor, as highlighted on “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Carrey leads the movie as the Grinch, a very grumpy green creature that tries to ruin Christmas by stealing all of the town’s Christmas presents.
One of Bruce Willis’ most famous and career-defining roles is also a really fun Christmas movie. “Die Hard” follows John McClane, a cop who’s visiting his estranged wife at her office’s holiday party, only for it to be taken over by a group of terrorists.
“The Polar Express” is the first of Robert Zemeckis‘ strange animated movies, following a young boy who boards a magical train on Christmas Eve.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, while known for his action roles and big muscles, is a great comedic actor. “Jingle All The Way” is set on Christmas Eve and follows rival dads desperately trying to find the last Turbo Man action figure for their sons.
Lastly, it’s a great time to watch “The Family Stone.” Starring an amazing cast led by the late and great Diane Keaton, the movie follows the close-knit Stone family, who are dealing with the arrival of their eldest son’s uptight girlfriend.
